We believe every patient who could benefit from a cell therapy should have the opportunity to receive one. That's why Cellular Origins exists: to make cell therapies widely accessible through scalable and reliable manufacturing.

We are a team of bioprocessing, automation and robotics engineers, scientists and manufacturing specialists: passionate about removing the manufacturing barriers that prevent cell therapies reaching more patients and working to industrialise cell therapy manufacturing for global demand.

Constellation® is the end-to-end manufacturing solution making our vision a reality. By combining advanced robotics and sterile fluid transfer technology with trusted bioprocessing tools and digital orchestration, Constellation turns manual manufacturing into a coordinated, scalable operation.

Our Origins

Cellular Origins began in 2017 at Cambridge technology consultancy TTP. A team of engineers working across automation, robotics, fluidics, and bioprocess engineering saw the same challenge emerge again and again: the science behind cell therapies was advancing rapidly, but manufacturing remained expensive, manual and difficult to scale.

What started as a technical challenge became a founding mission.

The team set about innovating a solution that could enable the scalable, cost-effective and efficient manufacture of cell therapies and, in January 2023, Cellular Origins was formally launched as a spin-out from TTP. Since then, the business has gone from strength to strength in building its commercial automation platform focused on scalable advanced therapy manufacturing.

In 2025, Cellular Origins completed an oversubscribed USD 40 million (EUR 34.3 million) Series A financing round led by Johnson & Johnson Innovation. Today the company is partnering with organisations around the world to build the manufacturing infrastructure needed to bring advanced therapies to more patients than ever before.

Edwin Stone, PhD

Chief Executive Officer

PhD in Engineering, University of Cambridge. Having joined TTP in 2004, Edd now has over 20 years' experience developing engineering and automation solutions for the cell and gene therapy industry.

Peter Crossley

Chief Operating Officer

Former engineering and R&D leader at Rolls-Royce, Dyson and Fisher & Paykel. Pete joined TTP in 2006 and brings nearly 30 years of experience in engineering, product development and technology leadership.

Dan Strange, PhD

Chief Technology Officer

M.A./M.Eng. in Engineering and PhD in Tissue Engineering, University of Cambridge. Dan joined TTP in 2013 and has led the development of advanced automation technologies for scalable cell and gene therapy manufacturing.

Jason Jones

Head of Global Business Development

Over 20 years' experience in cell and gene therapy. Former head of Miltenyi Biotec's UK Cell Therapy business and founding Chief Business Officer at Ori Biotech, scaling the company from its first employee to more than 60 staff.
